This week Carmel composed a poem  Writers Block where she explores the idea that after a long semester of uni you are struggling to find the motivation and energy to keep going. This week we had a close look at Shakespeare’s sonnets and more specifically how his sonnets explore the folly present in the world. My favourite sonnet was on pg 1067 Sonnet 65. I really liked this sonnet as I thought it was challenging at first but once we analysed it section by section I became much more familiar with the key concepts and ideas ( Read more... )

This week we explored Shakespeare’s Hamlet which I studied in year 12 along with Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead. For any of you who have not read this I strongly recommend you do as it gives you a good insight into the characterisation and role of the two players. I have to say it was alot better than i thought... I wasn't really sure what to expect as i dont really like the story line but it was very welldone!

This week we visited the NSW art gallery and the State Library. Firstly the state library showed us the Shakespeare room that is open to the public on certain days. When the state library as a whole was first opened in 1910 is was a place for the elite and wealthy people, as it was seen as an institute of learning and experience.
