VIctoria Secret vs Lane Bryant

One ad is too salacious for prime time television. The other one is not.

Can you tell which one? )

I have to say: based on those two commercials, I would far rather buy Lane Bryant than Victoria's Secret. VS's music is far too brash and obnoxious, and the models are too obviously flaunting it for me to be comfortable buying and wearing their product. The Lane Bryant commercial is still pretty affected, but it seems less formal and more casual/comfortable. And as someone in the outer reaches of the underwear size spectrum, I am more than happy to see a plus normal

VS ads make me uncomfortable. Maybe it's the wind machine, or the fact that the models look like someone starved them half to death then cut open their chests and shoved beach balls inside.

Oh wait---That is what happens to VS models.

I look forward to the banning getting Lane Bryant multiples of the attention that airing the ad would have gained, for a fraction of the cost.

Also, Victoria's Secret models don't have sex. It makes the wind machine operators who follow them everywhere feel awkward.

Dammit. Why didn't I think of getting myself banned from something as a marketing ploy?

Lane Bryant doesn't have prime-time fashion show infomercial specials that bring in ratings and huge advert income to the network, so theirs is more salacious and won't be shown.

OMG. You're so right. I hadn't thought of that one.

I hate America.

*waits hopefully for Rush Limbaugh to show up so she can get banned from something and get lots of media attention*

The Lane Bryant model looks real - attainable. The VS model looks like she's an invention from the squirmy mind of some Ad Exec - Don Draper, perhaps? Since the LB model is more realistic and is definitely going out to have massive amounts of sex in the real world, she is a threat. VS model is a fantasy and is like Tinkerbell or My Little Pony - innocuous, non-threatening... a dream - nothing more. Whereas - the LB model could live right next door.

Which would, of course, be awesome.
