Confessions of a Space Geek

Aug 18, 2008 17:40

After the premieres show at Vividcon, I was going on and on (and on and on) to astolat and cesperanza about my unqualified love for destina's vid about the space program. Kind enough to let me go on for awhile about Why Space is My Fandom, cesperanza suggested I post some of my favorite geek space stuff.

Oh that's a lovely list and, yes, I think so many of us have had space as our first fandom in one way or another :)

Thank you!

Space fandom! \o/

I grew up in Central Florida, so NASA was very much in the air. If they scheduled a night launch and the sky was clear, we could go out and see the shuttle or rocket go up. That didn't happen often (usually it was really hazy), but when it did, those are some lovely memories.

eeeeeeee you just made me SO HAPPY!! :D :D :D I geek out with you. I would also recommend Light This Candle by, um, I can't find his name right now, but it's a bio of Alan Shepard which captures him well, warts and all. *g* There's a bio of Armstrong that's pretty good, too - First Man by James R. Hansen.

Sometime you should come out to my house for the afternoon. I have a few things you might be very interested in looking at. Let's just say you can't touch most things like these outside of a museum. *g*

I'd love to :)

(I could've easily listed another 15 books... I was just trying not to be *too* scary!)

You're welcome! I noticed that at least a couple of the books were available on audio, too.

Wow. Great list of books! I'm off to order a couple of them. I've always been enamored of space. Des' vid made me very happy.
