I think it helps that the witch culture in the series is so upper-upper-class Regency/Victorian/Edwardian. Referring to something as 'furniture' indicates that they actually put effort into its upkeep. It wouldn't be as interesting or kinky if it was instead like some folding chair in a union hall in Iowa or what have you.
