4chan, on two characters from Sora no Woto/Bruit des Cieux/Himmelsklänge/whatever language they're translating Sound of the Skies into now:

Stupid artists, pretending there's yuri where there isn't. I wish they wouldn't get put on official OSTs to fool stupid western fans who confuse girls who kiss each other and live together with lesbians. There ( Read more... )

weird anime, people suck sometimes, why?, language, dear god that's bad

Actually, in context, the second anon had a point. She was addressing the anons who were claiming that two characters canonically kissing each other and living together wasn't yuri. As for the admittedly cold and brutally cynical phrasing, it's 4chan.

What part of this needs explanation?

The story:

There's a (canon) tie-in game that makes Rio/Filicia fairly explicit IMO by having them kiss and move in together after Rio's engagement to the Holy Roman Emperor is broken off. A troll on /u/ is arguing that this does not make it yuri in any way. Yeah.

Oh, I wasn't asking for explanation. I was "uuh"-ing at the anon.

I mean, technically, girls who kiss each other and live together aren't necessarily lesbians, but I have seen some of Sora no Woto, and... uuh.

(Also, this reads to me like those obnoxious people who like to cry and stomp their feet every time someone slashes two girls or two guys together because "THEY'RE OBVSLY NOT GAY! WAAAAH." Yeah, cry moar. I have no end of reasons why your complaints are not valid.)

They could be bisexual, or an 'if it's you it's okay' situation (though Rio sure as Hell didn't express any more than a simply courteous interest in the Emperor). That semantic level wasn't the one on which this argument was being put forth, though.

As the other anon said, is lesbian love really THAT damaging to some (presumably) straight cisgendered male psyches?

The first comment sounds to me like someone making fun of other people who say there's no yuri in the series.

It's impossible to tell at this point. Though somebody did write:

Order of trollitude
Writers of Sora no Woto > Failtrolls who deny what the writers wrote > Idiotic yuri fans who fall for the failtrolls.

Order of trollitude
Writers of [every series] > Failtrolls who deny what the writers wrote > Idiotic fans who fall for the failtrolls > Long, nasty arguments between two camps of fans, spurred on by trolls (at this point, you can't even tell who's a troll anymore and who's serious)

That sounds about right to me. :/
Thank goodness for the "hide thread" and spam flagging functions.

And this is actually horrifying because it means that some people genuinely are that nasty and petty.

...well, I lived with girl roomies who I kissed, but while it wasn't stemming from lesbianism on our parts I'm sure it could manage to look like it.
