I used to live in Brunswick, and from memory Natural Tucker Bakery in North Carlton do really good sourdough. I haven't had it in a few years now, though, as whenever I go to visit my mum she's usually just made some of her own :)

A futon for a bad back?
Hmmmmmmm.
My first bed when I moved out of home was a futon. The mattresses are crap. They end up lumpy, and you end up wedged in the middle.

if you have a bad back, I would visit one of those bed places where they actually help you choose one with the right firmness etc.

I used to have a futon mattress that wasn't that bad. The worst I had was a thin Ikea foam mattress.

I would on the second count, but I'm restricted by budget. :(

There's Back To The Futon in Box Hill. It's in walking distance from Laburnum station if you don't feel like driving.

I thought they'd moved to Preston? Or maybe that's a second location. I'm in Carlton, so Box Hill's a little out of the way, but thanks :)

I used to get sourdough from the deli in aflame st, st kilda, may be called edelweiss, and is near the fish shop. I haven't been to the US but I eat a lot of sourdough and the one from there was very dark, dense and yeasty-tasty: really good.

Would they have a store in Carlton too? Though that may be a restaurant.

The sourdough I know is described as one of my friends from home as sweet. It's also, like you say, denser and doesn't have that spongy look that white bread has. There are darker sourdoughs, but I love white!

Ta!
