Went to see the gastroenterologist yesterday.

...Okay, anyone who's chronically ill (and especially any woman who is chronically ill) knows how good it feels when you talk to a doctor who gets it. A doctor who listens, and believes you, and actually explains what they're doing and why and what they think about your test results and... generally ( Read more... )

Oh, god, crappy doctors are annoying. Find a good one? Do your best to cling to them.

(Says the person dealing with the aftermath of a bad dentist. At one point he shoved a mould plate thingy INTO THE JOINT OF MY JAW! Hello gag reflex! And then he decided to keep using it! Now, one of my crowns protrudes too much into my mouth (a few millimeters, yes but my tongue does not touch teeth it should because of it, and that really bugs me) and I have to have that root canal redone.

Not going back to him.

And I'm planning to move a couple of hundred miles in less than a year! I'm going to have to find a new everyone! This is gonna suck.

Mel! You live!!! *flying tackle hug!!*

So sorry to hear about your craptastic doctor. I know they suck...

I used to have a roommate with chronic pain thanks to Endometriosis, and one week the pain got so bad she just stopped eating. But she was so used to pain that she didn't actually FEEL the pain that was shutting her hunger off. We got her to the ER, and the doctor she saw had the gall to tell her all her previous doctors were wrong, there was nothing wrong with her, and gave her a basic Tylenol before sending her home.

Needless to say, the next day we took her to a gyno who happily knew exactly what was wrong and what to do (whee, morphine!), and when the ER called to ask how her visit had been, she just about burned the nurse's ear off with her scathing review. It was beautiful.

So yes, definitely stick with your GI doc! Doctors who actually LISTEN are way too hard to find.
