So, I have to figure out a way to install the chain lock on the attic door (which doesn't really close--it either jams or pops open: pick one) in such a way that you can actually attach the chain in the slide, but have the door not open far enough for a cat to slip through.

I swear our cats can do that T2

Hmmm. Afraid you're all out of luck. As far as I can tell, cats can either teleport or become ethereal to slip through doors, walls, or just disappear when you turn on the light to check what just landed on your feet (and you don't feel them leave but there's nothing there!).

Can bring a plane or sander to adjust door.
