Book meme!

I think this is the BBC's list of 100 books everyone should read at some point in their lives, bold the ones you've made it through. I think the BBC said the average person would only read six on this list. I did a lousy C/P job from pintsizeninja =P

I like to read. Got 34. As listed. =P )

I call shenanigans. On most of this list. Someone is besmirching the reputation of the BBC with this fake list! Or something!

Also, anyone who reads more than one Dickens book is a masochist.

Seriously...some of these books are shit. I do kinda like having more recent books that people might actually read on their own instead of the classics that you know most are forced to read for school and are probably a big reason so many people hate to read at all. Still...Bridget Jones Diary? I read that one because I was bored. There's really nothing to say about it. It wasn't good or bad or all that interesting...it just...was there. At least Twilight wasn't on the list. BARF.

God yes, so with you on the masochist thing. I may be somewhat masochistic at times, what with having lived in Ohio before, but holy crap, I could not even finish that book! Thank you whatever classmate bought the Cliff Notes. I made it all the way through Scarlet Letter, so I have a pain tolerance for books, but Dickens? Out of this world torture. O_O

I am so glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about Dickens.

I am quite vocal in my hatred of Dickens. I'm actually surprised you didn't know that about me yet. =P

I hated The Great Gatsby too, but not nearly as much as anything from A Tale of Two Cities.

Glancing through, I've probably gotten through 30 or so, but I really have to say His Dark Materials was a snorefest. I managed halfway before giving up. :/

Huh. I kinda liked it. Thought some parts(aside from the obvious fantasy/sci-fi parts) were a bit unrealistic, but overall I thought it was pretty well done.

Parts of this list are insulting. :-P

I don't know why folks would complain. Any thing that offers something you can use is a worthy read. :)
