Yeah I was pretty sure there would be Japanese-Americans in baseball, but my care for pro baseball is even less than my care for pro basketball, lol. Wiki really does have everything though! Amazing.
Yet they still have no problem with ridiculous amounts of whitewashing. :/ So much catering to the white audiences - probably because so most of the Hollywood execs are white too, alas.
As someone to whom the diverse Asian-American subculture is not at all foreign, I hate a little how it's being treated that way now that the mainstream US has bothered to notice its existence, thanks to Jeremy Lin's success.
But, but! Everybody knows Asian-Americans can do none of those things! They're only good for really offensive stereotypes and math. GOD MATH.
Seriously, though, good on this guy. It's the kind of good news story you hope to hear that just doesn't happen except for every now and again. Hopefully it ends well.
Yeah, I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, because how long can Linsanity go on? But I'm holding my breath that he pans out, because it really does seem like he has the skills not just at flashing point-making and headline-grabbing but to do his job as a point guard, which is apparently to pass well and assist in a lot of flashy point-making by others. /pretends I know about basketball lol
I follow other sports! The NBA is just unbearably boring to me for some reason. (Though not as much as baseball. Very little can be as boring as baseball, in my opinion.)
I gotta confess, I am pretty entertained by all the puns on his name. And all the gifs/macros on tumblr!
An aesthetic appreciation is the purest and simplest legitimate motivation of all time. :D
