I'm all cheerful today, for reasons unknown, but which probably have to do with having completed both the proofing of the next two chapters of the Tirren Phale stories, and having completed the first chapter of the Roja Blake tales, and sent them all off for beta-ing. Yayz

But it's never necessary to transcribe dialogue when there are scripts online....

Apparently it's something to do with elements which go beyond dialogue - who's standing where, what props are lying around in a given scene, the expressions on the actors' faces, the delivery of the lines themselves, body language etc.
It is, I should stress, by *no* means an excuse for watching Paul Darrow slink around in leather.
This is research, dammit!

Plus it allows me to play around with the whole notion of keeping the long portions where Blake is in one spot and not moving around too much in the one long scene, rather than bouncing around through intercuts.
Oh, and Paul Darrow in leather is something that's coming up later. I'm still transcribing bits of season 1 at the moment. He didn't get into the leather stuff until season 2. (Not that I've been keeping track, or anything silly like that, oh no).

Besides, I *enjoy* doing the transcription. It gives me a chance to really interact with the dialogue, and I find writing things down by hand helps the process of being able to play with the whole business. As I'm transcribing, I'm also thinking of how I'm going to be playing with various lines, what the character might be thinking, and where I'd make changes in emphasis and similar, to alter the way that the dialogue is projected. Plus I'm able to slow down the dynamics of the show, get an idea of how the characters are interacting, where things went right, where they went wrong, what might need to change.
Good idea with regard to the curtain. I'll have to look into getting one of those curtain rods that holds itself up (the doorway space is deep enough that this shouldn't be a problem) and a few curtains.
