It would be for the sewing up of this blanket. I've now finished in the ends of three rows. This is an incredibly tedious business that I'm not sure I'm doing correctly or securely. It also takes forever. Each patch has around 4 bits of thread to work in so that takes me about ten minutes and isn't fun. I've now conquered the half-way point

Well so am I really, if you ever venture on to wedding websites/forums they are full of women who beneath every comment have one of those little animated progress recorder thingy (are they called tickers?) with how many days, weeks, months, years to the wedding and a little something moving along it, often they are exceedingly girly.

One day they are going to find me keeled over dead with a massive grin on my face and some message from you on my computer screen, and they will say "it's how she would've wanted to go."

You are right, that is more acceptable because it's an actual progressive thing that was worth keeping a ticker for. Ticker's themselves aren't evil, just using them for this purpose :)
