The GC and I are mini-breaking* to Sligo town over the mid-term. It's a long time since I've been to Sligo and while we're really just in the wander round soak up atmosphere mindset if there is something truly unmissable we'd better not miss it.

Go and see Yeats' grave - the sculpture of his poem is lovely.
Lissadell house is quite nice, although we didn't go in.
Glencar waterfall is lovely.

Car required for these, however.

Restaurants we ate in and would go back to are Bistro Bianconi and Poppadums.

I've seen Yeat's grave myself although not sure about The GC. Any recommendations for the town itself?

Well, assuming you're driving, I'd advise stopping off in Lough Key Forest Park on the way and taking a look around. They've put in a lot of work there over the last couple of years.

Strandhill beach is nice, but you may not have the weather for it. And the countryside around the place is gorgeous. Sadly all my touristing in the town itself has been Confess related, so I can't add very much to that part of the discussion.

My Sligo town recommendation is...

...Donegal town.

Oh the facetiousness of it all.

:-P
