a/n: had been awhile since i updated the fic, so my dears, you might want to read the previous chapters to refresh your memories a lil. i am so dead tired now, that i could only update this chapter, but i would be back when i get enough sleep tomorrow!
italics are Jinki's thoughts, enjoy! ^^
After leaving the museum, mum’s at it again. *chuckles*
“Jinki-ah, let’s go to Namsan Tower take a look at Seoul from the highest point and then we shall go to Everland! We’ll take the safari ride and look at your favourite bears and white tigers! We’ll take lots and lots of pictures! And and and!”
“Umma!” I interrupted as I shook her arm to catch her attention.
“Eh?” my mum tilted her head to the side a little.
“Umma, relax. We have lots of time for that, but I don’t think we should spend our time traveling back and forth to Everland then back to Seoul. I want us to really enjoy our time together, quality time, not quantity. We don’t have to do so many things today. We have tomorrow, the next day after tomorrow, the next next day after tomorrow, we have forever to do this! So let’s truly enjoy ourselves here in Seoul, we can always go to Everland some other day, it’s almost tea time anyway, we’ll have very little time left to play before they close.” I word vomited, thoughtfully to talk some sense into my mum and her antics.
Wow~ I couldn’t believe I could say such along sentence without even changing my breath.
Anyway, traveling from Seoul to Yongin where Everland’s located at would take about an hour’s ride by car or bus, it all depends on the traffic though. But I would rather we spend the rest of our day in Seoul, truly enjoying ourselves instead of tiring ourselves from traveling.
She mouthed and “o” while blushing, “Ye, you’re right Jinki-ah, I didn’t thought about that, I just wanted to spend my day with you so much, that I didn’t thought about everything else, mianhae Jinki…” she mumbled and focussed on her pretty shoes.
Kekeke, I have such an adorable umma don’t I? Now I know where I got my dorkiness and cuteness qualities from *ahem*
“Umma, kwenchana. It’s fine, we’ll go to Everland soon, right?” I grinned my thousand watt smile to my mum.
At the sight of my grin, my mum started giggling, “Aigoo, why is my son such a sweetie who knows how to cheer everyone around him up?” she ruffled my hair affectionately.
“Now let’s go to Namsan Tower! We’ll conquer Seoul with our Polaroid camera and our dorky selves!” I punched my fist into the air while holding the Polaroid camera up in my free hand.
“Yeah! Gaja!” my mum pushed me towards the direction of the subway station.
The moment we got there, we were shocked by the amount of crowd. It was a weekday and usually there wouldn’t be so many people here during a weekday’s afternoon. Apparently, there was a carnival that day. I never knew there was a carnival, that’s for not watching TV, babo!
My mum hooked onto my arm and we strolled (more like me been dragged) towards the nearest stall in the carnival which happens to be a food stall selling dukbokki. The ajumma who’s selling it was smiling happily and waving to us as we approached her.
“Annyeonghaseyo, do you want some dukbokki? It’s a hot day isn’t it?” said ajumma asked.
“Annyeonghaseyo ummoni, we’ll take one of that, and may I ask why there is a carnival here all of a sudden?” my umma asked.
“Ye, you didn’t watch the news? It was to celebrate the win for the national team for getting into the round of 16 in the world cup,” she replied as she scooped up the piping hot red dukbokki from the pot before serving it to us.
Both umma and I nodded to the ajumma’s words mouthing “o” when we did that. “So that explains why there are so many people out here on a weekday huh?” I said out loud, not to anyone in particular.
There’s laughter coming from somewhere near the dukbokki stall, when I turned around, I saw a group of girls crowding around somebody. A guy who’s holding balloons, his brunette hair and crystal clear big eyes reminded me of those that belong to a cute puppy, and his slanted smile is just killer. Without any warning, I was staring at the boy.
As if he felt my stare on him, he turned to face me on cue when a balloon was set afloat by one of the girls from the group, despite all the whining about her lost balloon and all he did was stare back at me with his cheeky smirk.
My cheeks started to burn and I turned my attention back to my plate of dukbokki, focussing on the hard-boiled egg in the plate which the ajumma had given me, while umma chatted animatedly with the stall ajumma.
Everything seems to be blocked out of my mind when I focused on the egg, as if I was only able to see it beyond all the things and people around me then. But soon, my staring session with my egg was interrupted by screams of girls very near me. Aish, jinjja! Why must they be screaming here when I’m trying eating my dukbokki. Though I was busy having a stare-down battle with the egg that wouldn't give a shit about me ):
I turned around to come face to face with the brunette boy who still has a bunch of balloons in his left hand, right hand planted into his jeans pocket idly. His face was so close that I could feel his breath on my skin.
“Hi, these are for you,” he said as he stretched his hand out to offer me the balloons. I hesitated, even if the group of girls weren’t there, why would I, a normal 22 year old guy would want to accept balloons on a carnival? Like seriously......
The boy grabbed my right hand and handed me all the balloons he had when he didn’t get any response from me other than my uncertain stare.
“I want to befriend you, name’s Jonghyun, and you are?” he offered his hand for a shake.
“Jin- Jinki,” I nodded awkwardly before shaking his hand.
“Oh! And the balloons would be the first present of our friendship, see ya around then Jinki!” he smiled and waved sloppily.
I looked back and forth between his retreating back and the balloons he got me before his back disappears eventually in the midst of the celebrating crowd.
When I got my attention back to the things around me, I realised many pairs of eyes were on me, the hateful eyes of fangirls I can say. The group of girls who were surrounding him are now murmuring about me catching the attention of their prince charming, murmurs about me being an extra in the scene and even a show-off. Sigh... Fangirls these days......
Jonghyun... I mumbled to myself.
