in which I have a brief pity party.

I just got back to the hotel room. It's 8pm. I've been up and ready to go for work since 5am, and had a 7 hour client meeting. I'm tired, I'm cranky, and I'm a little upset by what one of my coworkers said offhandedly to me after the meeting. (About how I hadn't "progressed as far as he would have thought, that I'm "losing ground", and that he was ( Read more... )

thanks! I *love* this pictures. And I didn't write a whole lot, but I'm up early to try again. I will have a LOT to catch up on this weekend (thankfully the weather seems crappy, so I won't mind being inside).

Hugs - it will all look better in the morning, I hope!! That is an outrageous thing for your co worker to say - is he someone whose judgment you trust, or could he have some agenda of his own in saying things like that? It may be that you just need to change the focus of all your efforts for them to be seen/recognised by him? He might be the only one that thinks that? Sorry for the unsolicited advice - I think you're awesome and I'm in awe of how much you get done! Have a good time writing your rainnnnnnnn!!! (I could send you some of the weather from the uk now for inspiration, I tell you!!). Hugs!!!

the problem is, he's one of my superiors at work, and the one in charge of the department (design) that I want to do more work for. I *do* feel better about it a little this morning, and it was just a button that was easy for him to push since I already was feeling frustrated and underutilized. I'm going to have some conversations next week with my boss, and my boss' boss before I meet with him, just to make sure everything is kosher.

Co-worker = suck. Comments like that I think are designed to manipulate a person into feeling bad. Normal people don't say offhandedly harsh things like that. Have faith in your own abilities and set this guy straight when you're level headed and able to drive the point home.

Thinking of you!

yeah, I at least feel like calling him out a little on it, instead of just going to hide in a corner.

Thanks though, =) careers are never straight arrows of win. They're often frustrating for anyone, I think.

I did need that, thanks ;)

My husband called right before I went to bed and was much more sympathetic. Which actually ended up being bad because then I cried instead of being mad, which I don't normally do about work EVER. BUT I felt a little more fuzzy love so that was good.
