A dumb idea I can't get out of my head.

I started rereading my favorite book in the world the other night. The book is called "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet, and it is an amazing book. I first read it in high school for a class, and I became hooked on this guy and started reading more stuff by him. Well, none of his books surpass this one, though he is a great writer. So now ( Read more... )

Cripe! I thought I'd never meet another person who'd read this book. I read it during a three-day Greyhound bus trip from Chicago to Las Vegas when I was thirteen (what else was there to do besides be scared out of my mind?). How many pages is it, something like 800 or 900? I can't even remember what I did with the book, but I've always remembered the storyline, red hair and all, you know (and the bit about the nipple pinching has stuck with me, too, for some reason...). ;)

Ah yes, the nipple-pinching keeps me turning the pages. I think it's 950 pages? At least my copy is somewhere around that. Not many people I know have read this book either, except the people I went to high school with. It's my favorite, and I love the way it's written. Did you like the book?

It's hard to say if I liked it or not; I was on a very freaky-sad bus trip across the United States, so the book was more of a diversion from panic attacks or going insane with fear. In any case, I must have enjoyed it enough to remember it and several of its various details. No doubt I would enjoy it more now that I'd be able to better engage it.

Happy new year!

I know a lot of people we went to school with who read it and loved it. It doesn't even phase me anymore that it's so long.
