Odd Ramblings

The following is an article about the draft. I beg of you all: Spread this thing around as much as you can. Email it to your friends, co-workers, and so on. It is important and represents one of the stinking things that is wrong with this country. Personally I want to clean this place up. I would rather do that than move out of it but I have no ( Read more... )

I am very moved by this entry, and I agree with a lot of it. I don't usually feel that people have intentionally malicious motivations, or that they end up doing something cruel just because they're "stupid" or "assholes". Of course, I usually forgive people over and over because it's how I am and I expect others to do the same for me. When it doesn't happen, I feel betrayed, even though no one technically owes me anything. Like you said, people base their opinions on their own views and personalities ( ... )

I don't mind at all. I am flattered.

It's heartening to see someone pursuing what they love in spite of fears or misgivings.

And I can't tell white people apart, myself. ;)

Growth involves some sort of sacrifice. Evolving means change and in change some things are destroyed, be it opportunities, ideas, or actual physical objects. Ultimately this does not have to be a bad thing but sometimes it can mean giving up something you hold dear to achieve something greater.

In the same light you can't just sit around and do nothing. If you do you will never get anywhere. It just makes sense. Stagnation is thought to be the lack of change but it is actually just change caused to things that sit still long enough. It is rot. Stagnation is change. It is change that happens when other change isn't made. It is change that is done to you if you don't make changes yourself.

Ah, clearly you're a Shadow, not a Vorlon.

Man, you posting a link from an indymedia site just totally blows my image of you as a conservative whacko. Thanks for bursting my balloon, Random. ;)

This is a great entry. I find myself agreeing with every word of the entry. Again, I seem to have the same views as you on all of these things. Personally, I have learned that not everyone is going to have integrity and be honesty as I do. I have many a time witnessed people who are liars and deceivers who do not trust honest people, because they think the honesty is a lie...obviously because they think that's how everyone is. In it's simplest form, I really do believe in good and evil (To me, evil isn't represented by a red guy with a pitchfork). Rather, it is a persons motives and actions that determine who they are. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pre-judging anyone and saying "you lied! you're evil!" But people who act soley on self gratification, have no sympathy or compassion for others, and feel no guilt over a selfish deed, well...that's when something doesn't smell right. Is life about doing everything you can for yourself, or is it about growing and sharing with others? I bet you'de be surprised how many people pick the ( ... )

Nope. It's not just you.
I agree wholeheartedly. People need to take a look at the world outside their own little minds.
