Doctor Who

I'm sure most of you are pretty sick of these posts, aren't you?
I was re-watching "Father's Day" the other day, capping it to make icons and I realized that I really did watch the show for the Doctor. When you watch an episode like that where it's prominently about someone else, Rose, and you can't help but focus completely on someone else, the ( Read more... )

I think one of the reasons I ship Nine/Rose is because I love the way she puts up with his geeky-ness. And he doesn't mind that she teases him, like in "The Doctor Dances" about dancing while he's using his sonic screwdriver. And she doesn't get harsh with him when he pulls out a banana. She knows that he's a little different, but that doesn't stop her from caring. I think it's sweet.

They are sweet, aren't they? I love that when he pulls the banana, she just pulls faces instead of saying anything.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts as well.

First, I've been an overseas fan of Doctor Who since I can remember (somewhere in the vicinity of 1979/80 or so?), catching all the broadcasts on PBS. I've seen just about everything (except for a smattering of McCoy, which I have on the computer... just haven't gotten around to watching 'cause the 80's-ish incidental music hurts ( ... )

Thank you for your comment!

I understand people not liking Doctor/Companion relationships (romantically), sometimes I feel like it shouldn't be that way, but I don't have all that history with the Doctor, so that could just be interfering with my views.

I'm a bit of a purist -- the Doctor's not supposed to shag his companions... that's Captain Jack's job. =)

If nothing, I could definitely get behind that!

Thanks again.

Man pretty much every scene you said you love, I love. All of them and for pretty much the same reason.

All my friends seem to prefer Ten but Nine will always be my preferred and adored Doctor.

One part I love that you didn't mention (and it's so tiny) is in The Unquiet Dead when the Doctor rescues Rose from Zombie people and he keeps his arm around her waist - I just find that so sweet.

Aw, I'm glad you liked.

And I know that moment from "The Unquiet Dead", I actually pointed it out in one of my screen cap reviews, so I didn't point it out here, but yeah, I found it very sweet as well, just something something they don't even seem to notice.

Nine is also my preferred Doctor.

Nothing wrong with gushings of Doctor love!

I credit Christopher Eccleston's portrayal of the Docotor with getting me into this wonderful show in the first place. He had me hooked by that speech in "Rose" you mention, and it only got better from there. I'm sorry he wasn't around very long.

I'm catching up with old Doctors now, and I love them too, but I think that if Nine hadn't been so wonderful, and if that whole season didn't do such a good job of teaching newbies like me about the Doctor and the whole story, I wouldn't have been interested in seeking out more once I was done watching his season. Nine was intense when he needed to be, goofy when he needed to be, intelligent, snarky, loving. Really exactly how the Doctor should be, and I'm glad he was my first. :-)

I'm glad he was my first as well, he not only made me love the show and got me into it, but he got me into fandom because I had to share my new found love.

Thank you very much for commenting!

I'm very glad you commented! Welcome to the LiveJournal community!

I also was introduced to Doctor Who and CE through the SciFi channel, and I thank them for that. I think the Ninth Doctor will always be first in my heart, because like many have said the first Doctor will always stick with you, Nine is definitely my Doctor.

I have nothing against 10/Rose, I can like them quite a bit, but 9/Rose will always be my preference for reasons beyond my own comprehension. :)

So nice to find those that share interests!
