I ignore everything that happened after Cain and Riff's tender skeletal embrace, which is the best conclusion to anything ever: Riff is a fake constructed personality created to destroy Cain, he was dead before he ever met Cain, and he's melting away into a skeleton... and their love is still sweet and pure and true!

Yeah, most of what was between Cain rushing into Riff's arms as the building collapses and Crehador remembering seeing Cain in Riff's skeletal embrace didn't make much sense anyway.

Though there is the bonus of Mary Weather now running the Hargreaves family.

Though I admit, I was slightly weirded out by the chapter page of naked Cain leaning back against the chair evil!Riff was lounging in with his diabolocal smile. (Though the Cain/Crehador page cracked me up, as Cain looks like he's looking for Riff, and Crehador's face is a bit "WTF am I doing here?" Which kinda fits with his overall involvement...)
