Apparently, I read a few chapters of this years ago, as I remembered the first three chapters as I was reading them. Probably when I was reading Shoujo Beat. That said, I don’t think I can be blamed for forgetting that as this is technically volume 6, and would probably make no sense without the first five volumes.

If it helps at all, I think that bit with Cain looking winsomely over his shoulder is meant to be when he's 17, since the story's cycled back to the "five years later" discussion from the beginning.

...No arguments about him being a super-creepy child, though. Of course, with that family, it's hard to blame him.

*looks at scene in question*

Hmm...we have wee!Cain apparently rolling around naked in bed and talking to Riff about how he only wanted Riff's tea and how no one else was allowed to help him dress, then we turn the page and Cain is looking over his shoulder, either shirtless or nekkid, and he says "You're the only one in this world who can touch my scars, Riff."

Gosh, I guess it's possible. *squints* I'd always thought that bit was meant to be present-day, since the first panel on that page starts off with another mention that what's-his-name had died in prison, and since half-naked Cain seemed to indicate that it was continuing from the opening scene when he'd just hopped out of the bathtub. Perhaps I've just been reading it wrong all these years.

Hmm...Cain still looks 11 in the convo about Stein, but looking at the beginning of the chapter, the current Cain looks younger than usual, too...
