I concede. Everyone was right. It isn't being written for the DVD so much as " we know where we want to end up at various points but aren't sure how to get there.
Ah. I'm probably remembering her from Carnivale, as I keep thinking of her in some context of a "screw you" to someone saying she deserved getting attacked.
And all I ask for from Mohinder is the hint that there is something upstairs. (Seriously! And they call girls TSTL?)
And...err...in general, the show seems to do a good job of being racially diverse, but why is it the, so far, the only females with powers are the pretty blonde girls? (I mean, no objection whatsoever to pretty blonde girls here, but on the "Males with powers" end, we have whites, a black man, and a Japanese man...and Isaac, who[in the bad lighting he's always shown in] seems to be mixed anglo/hispanic.) But then, it's early on, yet.
I hate to say, but it gets worse. Much worse. *facepalm* Heroes is generally made of fail, in the long run. Unfortunately. But I'll spare you the rants until you reach them.
Well, I know from casting that there's apparently at least of Pretty Blonde Special coming. But it's like this glaring red beacon of fail in something they are clearly trying to not fail at...
I'm torn about Mohinder because on one hand yay hot desi/South-Asian character but on the other hand ...not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Really not. He rarely has moments where he shines in the intellect department. Of course, that's the writers' fault (as are oh so many things that went wrong for me with Heroes), not the character's, but goddammit, it's just so annoying. The potential not being used. Eh.
All I can muster in some of his scenes is "I am sorry, but given how much I see him getting loved on and how female characters get called TSTL for one tenth of this, I AM CALLING MASS HYPOCRISY!"
He is pretty. Writer should utilize this with a healthy balance of technobabble and hitting things. Not...whatever they are trying to do.
I am watching along (well, not at the moment-currently at work and indulging in vaguely handflappy squeaking over Girl Genius) and will go "That's awesome!" *two seconds pass* "THAT IS SO MUCH FAIL!!"
Also, why is the Japanese man born and raised in Japan going around introducing himself as personal name-family name instead of family name-personal name?
I'm guessing this is because he knows it's the norm in the US?
Nathan...has a very unique perspective when it comes to blood relations. You'll see, if you haven't heard already.
I found it odd that, in future 'Previously, on Heroes' sequences, the scene with good ol' HRG being sinister and getting rape boy's mind wiped was used to show how 'evil' he was, when in context it was the first scene to really make me like him. He's just a protective dad with more power at his disposal than most.
One theory is that Claire is a bit of a masochist. She specifies another reason in season three, but I won't spoil. Though it does reach the point of overkill at times.
I can buy Claire being at least slightly masochistic. In all honesty, I think it can develop with that kind of power.
Having seen the end, I think the scene is what clues us in that, even if it maybe wasn't his original intent, Bennett loves Claire, and will destroy anything and bend rules to protect her. He's one of those where it's only really the love for one person that keeps him, you know, worthy of being called human.
And I kind of really like thatthat was the first time mindwipe guy showed any emotion, and it was clearly joy.
*nodnod* The Hatian comes across as just stoically doing his job, not really caring one way or the other about what he's doing to the people whose minds he wipes. But doing a deep purge of a rapist and scrubbing his skull out with Lysol (metaphorically speaking) would be quite satisfying.
Bennet's a pretty awesome dad. Not the standard parenting situation, but he loves his Claire Bear.
. . . more than his biological son, now that I think about it. We never see them interact that I can recall.
Is Lyle their biological son? I've been wondering about that. Bennet seems the sort who will say "screw you" to the world to save someone. Which is extremely unappealing in a lead or hero, but works with the characters where, well...that person is kind of the only reason they're contributing anyway, it works a lot better.

And Mohinder is not smart. Nope. No way at all. Maybe book smart, but in any other way, shape or form - guy's a moron.

Also, yes, Mohinder is so pretty, and good with books, but SO DUMB. SO VERY DUMB.
