Misplacing books is bad and sad. I do it all the time.

I really enjoyed the first two (although I also like Crown Duel and especially Inda, The Fox and King's Shield better than this) of the Wren trilogy, but the third started with a plot development that I DID NOT WANT!!

Not because it squicked me out but because of empathy for one of the main characters, so I haven't read that one... if I ever will.

Having read the backs of the books, it sounds like a Love Square of Doom.

Reading manga you get a high tolerance for love shapes estara September 27 2008, 17:38:33 UTC
Actually that wasn't what I didn't want. If you review that book here, too, I'll tell you.

Unless you want to get spoiled first?

Actually, manga and kdramas have pretty much killed my tolerance for love shapes.

Nah, I'll get to it pretty soon. I have all three books.

That is one awesome quote. In a extremely unrelated note, that was one of the reasons why I don't watch Bollywood films anymore :(. Someone ~~giving up~~ the person they love to a friend or sibling is a pretty common plot point.

Yeah. It manages to be overreacting and immature and completely right. And the book handles it as being both.

And yeah, that (and endless angsting over similar) is why a lot of shoujo and kdramas don't work for me. This isn't referring to love triangles, but it's built around a similar idea as a lot of them are, and I don't deal well with that type of cheap emotional manipulation or "it's ok to make decisions about someone else's life."

I have been waiting for a publisher to buy Smith's last book in this series FOREVER (Wren Journeymage). I know I'm in the minority, but I loved Wren and didn't like Mel half as much. I'd love to know what happened to her.

I liked both. I know Posse of Princesses is set in the same world, but I don't think it's about Wren.
