"Anyone else have any angsty scars contenders?"

What about Doomsie? You've got this whole mother-sent-to-hell business, you've got his falling out with his flatmate, then the scar, then he gets so angsty about his scar that he forges this armored mask and puts it on while it's still red-hot. Sure he's a comic book villain, but he's an exceptional specimen of the genre and, when properly written, can be surprisingly three-dimensional.

True, I forgot Doom and Dent. Those are both pretty impressive

Hmm, well, if you're going to list Gojyo's scars as an honorable mention, I'd say you need to include Hakkai's as well; while he's better able to keep them covered up, the angst associated with them is just as thick.

Other than those, the first things that spring to my mind are Milady de Winter's brand from The Three Musketeers, Maglor's withered hand from The Silmarillion, and the scar Fraser in Due South gets from being shot in the back at the end of "Victoria's Secret"...

hmmm... thinking about The Silmarillion, how about Beren's missing-entirely hand?

I'd have gone for Maedhros's missing hand instead, since Beren gets a happy ending and all (by Silmarillion standards, at least); but Megan was deliberately leaving out limb loss...

Hmm...I forgot Hakkai had physical scars. With Gojyo, I was thinking specifically of the scars on his cheek, which, if memory serves(and it may not) he got by trying to give stepmom pretty flowers or some such.

(Gojyo didn't get honorable mention so much as internet died and I had to retype the whole thing and was too tired to go check for details.)

Trigun. When we finally see Vash shirtless (and later naked from the back), we see that he's absolutely covered with scars so that there's hardly a bit of his skin other than his face that isn't scarred.

ah yes, Vash. I was going "and...one of those other Kenshin-like characters..." last night but couldn't think of who. Hmm...do we know how he got the scars, though?

In a whole bunch of various incidents in which he was wounded due to taking excessive risks due to his dedication to not killing people.

Sounds about right. I tell myself Meryl(whose name I think I misspelled) eventually smacks some self-preservation into him or something.

I definitely agree with the suggestions of both Hakkai and Vash. Another honorable mention might be Rin from Fruits Basket and the scars she got when Akito pushed her out the window. If nothing else, it makes for angsty flashbacks -- and not from her.

I think EotS just movedto my number 1 drama watch slot (as I am done with all the ones I was watching, except those I watch off and on).

It's probably the best drama I've seen.
