I think it only works if you appreciate the fanservice

Before work today, I watched the first episode of Taiyou no Kiestsu, AKA "That drama where Takizawa Hideaki is all revenge obsessive and there's excessive fanservice of him every five minutes."

After just one episode, I think I can safely say that I'm not remotely attracted to Takizawa Hideaki.  It all made me either giggle(and not in the girly crush way) or just kinda stare then look away.  I've liked him in everything I've seen him in, but I think Takki is like Goku in Saiyuki to me.  He's all little and cute and I just want to hug him for it and maybe feed him, but he's always a cute boy to me, not someone to really find attractive or, you know, ogle.

(I mean really, I could almost look him in the eyes...I'm used to getting neck cramps looking guys in the face and to being able to identify by neck or shoulder or shoulder blades almost as well by face...I feel lost when I can look an adult guy in the face without sitting or steps being involved...)

Sadly, very, very much of the show so far seems to be based on appreciating the shirtlessness and wet shirts.  And...welll...so far his character's a jerk.  I'm sure I'm supposed to be getting "hot angsty guy out for revenge" from him, but I'm more getting "angry brat who needs to be punched in the face."  But I shall continue watching because I do like him(just not the way TPTB assume I will) and because the heroine is really sweet and cute and his childhood friend is like a hyper lovable puppy.  Everyone but those 2 characters is awful so far, though.
