1.  Today is the first day of the Adult Literacy Council Booksale.  Hopefully it will go better than last year.  Those who were here last year may recall that the workers were kinda rude and looked down on the book shoppers, the location was inaccessible, and you couldn't get to most of the books.  It' at a different place this year, though, so ( Read more... )

Aqua and Aria are actually 2 different series by the same creator. Aqua came first, and then ended, and then Aria started up as a "new" series with the same characters.

I'm actually glad TP picked up both series. I love these slow, sleepy types of stories once in a while.

Oh Twilight... Actually, I've read Twilight and New Moon. It devastates me that the portion of my flist that reads and likes the series loves Edward, the vampire love interest who sparkles in the sun and not Jacob, the hot werewolf.

But I admit every time of them exclaims about the great worldbuilding, I laugh and laugh and laugh. Because worldbuilding? So not there.

Thanks for the link to the list! I see Michelle West's he Sundering books on there. I love her but those books were just not my thing. And I totally did not realize Dragon Sword and Wind Child was already out. For some reason, I thought it was coming out next year!

Also, it amuses me to no end that Twilight & sequels are on that list because Bella, the heroine, is neither strong nor unique. She is a spineless, brainless Mary Sue twit that the author admits is based on herself.

Yes...that was my impresion of her from everything I've read...including from those who like her.

Most on my flist seem to prefer the werewolf...

I saw Dragon Sword and Wind Child while I was out...adding it to my wishlist(though I may order it this weekend) was how I found the list.

Heh ... didn't I already warn you that Basilisk was crap? I know I blogged it very cruelly ...   ;-)

I don't recognize most of the authors on that list, but then I can be an awful snob about fantasy. Did you ever end up getting any Martha Wells?

Heh. I'd already read the firt 2 volumes of Basilisk long before you blogged it. Like...as they came out. I just noticed that it was finished and decided to skim them. A pity, as it COULD have been good. *will just watch the movie*

Martha Wells: Not yet. I was waiting for the local Used Book Sale(this weekend...just got back from preview night, actually) and then hitting the local used bookstores...next will be online sources.

Mad flail-y love for the vampire in question.
And I'll admit to owning an Edward t-shirt ^.^

But he SPARKLES.

I could never take a vampire who sparkles seriously...

When you put it that way, it sounds silly. But it seriously IS a good vampire love story. It's one of my favorite books/series.

The list you posted from Amazon looks like it has a few decent books on it. Thanks for linking it.
