Yes, my not-so-inner wuxia fangirl currently rules me (blame
calixa, she's feeding the addiction bigtime lately)
I set up a crunchyroll account today so that I can check out as many dramas as I can before actually buying them(esp. as more are getting mostly-affordable official releases lately) without actually DLing them. I was going to watch the first episode of The Young Warriors, until I realized that death or bankruptcy was about all that would stop me from watching that one(a: wuxia, b: Hu Ge, c: Eddie Peng, d: same makers as Chinese Paladin, e:
calixahas practically been giving me a play-by-play and I MUST see it for myself) so I watched the first episode of Patriotic Knights instead.
It starts with two lovers running away together in the desert when they're stopped by who I assume is her (definately evil) husband or fiance. In the fight, she and baddie fall off a cliff and he jumps off after her, and after impassioned "can't live without you" speeches, he remembers he's a wuxia hero and as such, he can fly(never change, wuxia. NEVER.) Of course, an even badder bad guy is waiting for them and he sends arrows raining down on their heads. Our hero, not to be beaten by such pitiful weapons that anyone in the wuxia world can master, leaps into the air and spins fast enough to create both a whirlwind to deflect the arrows AND a sandstorm to mask their escape.
Cut to 20 years later, when a young man named Kam, who grew up on a tiny island with only his parents for company, is sent out to find them and pay homage(or so I gather.) While looking for the location his father gave him, he encounters a masked woman riding through the forest and, when she won't stop for him, he chases after her, grabs her horse's tail, and wins the run away/stop battle with the horse. This gets him tackled, and when he grabs her upper leg, he realizes that it's a very not-guy-like leg...and gets punched in the face for grabbing her leg, of course. She escapes while his brain is putting "girl dressed very differently from mom" together in her head and steals a statue from what appears to be bad guys.
This makes Kam think she's a thief, but he doesn't seem overly bothered by it once he gets her hat and veil off and she's that she's pretty. At that point, all he can do is babble about how beautiful she is(hey...tiny island...) Her response? "Go to a harem...lots of beautiful girls there." (roughly...and it seems "brothel" is being interpretted as "harem") When he asked if all the girls there are as beautiful as she is, she says they're moreso, and his pretty-girl deprived brain went "Beautiful girls=harem" and he said "if beautiful girls come from a harem, you must come from a harem."
This of course results in her pushing him away and doing a flying jump to her horse so she can leave in a huff, only she left her hat and veil behind, so he used them to follow her scent to town(yes, follow her scent...) and then when he got to town, he was asking everyone where he could find a harem(yes, he got Looks) and when he got there, they half tried to send him away because they thought he was a beggar and the other half tried to proposition him, and his clueless self was all "I just have to find someone, that's all." And you can guess who was looking at the harem in the distance at the very end up the ep(while he was declaring that he was only there to look for her)
Yes, I now know what I'm getting in the order with Young Warriors(though I'm giving the seller a coupla days to get Sword Stained With Royal Blood in before ordering.)
