Long-ish and maybe a bit ranty.

1. The Love Triangle:  Love triangles?  Generally, they suck.  Why?  Because almost always, one character is just clearly WRONG for the one with two options.  As a result, the only real suspense is when the party with options will make the right choice.  A a result, the 3rd wheel almost always comes off looking bad.

That is mostly your perception of what happenned, which was tainted beyond repair by a single word not to your liking (that was taken back, as I recall).

And just because I'm not quite as cynical as you doesn't make me an idealist.
