Cursor's Fury is the 3rd book in Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series(more commonly known as "Butcher's other fantasy series")  The CA series is a rarity for me in that, while I like coming of age fantasy series I generally only tolerate(Eragon) or like well enough but prefer other cast members(Harry) to the main character.  However, off the top of my ( Read more... )

Ah, yes, I loooooooooved Wildwood Dancing! But then there hasn't been a book of Marillier's that I've not loved. And I agree that she does a great job with her research and utilization of it.

By the way, there's a sequel (Cybele's Secret) to Wildwood Dancing coming out this year (or early next year). It will be out in October in Australia, but it'll be December/January for the U.S. and U.K.

You should enjoy the Bridei books, too. I've read all three (the fourth has been put on hold while she writes two stand-alone historical fantasies) and I've enjoyed each one more than the previous.

I wish I knew why it take so long for most of her books be released here, except for the "young adult" ones apparently. I've been getting the Australian releases. Yeah, they are expensive that way, but I don't like waiting a year or more and I tend to like the Australian covers better.

I swear there isn't an author out there who does more research into both history and mythology and makes it work without overwhelming you.

The first Bridei book is waiting, just don't want to read them back to back.

I think I've largely given up on waiting for paperbacks with most fantasy and mystery books.

Hmm...I don't recall a Cybele...daughter?

Yeah, I'm that way, too.

I don't recall a Cybele either, but that's the name she gives for the sequel. Maybe it refers to a daughter of Jena's or one of her sisters? Or maybe it refers to someone in the Other Kingdom?
