Blindspot pilot

Like most people I know, I think, I mostly checked this out because I like Jaime Alexander.

A naked, amnesiac woman is found in a bag in times square, and is taken to the FBI. Her entire body is covered in tattoos, one of which is the name of an FBI agent, Kurt Weller. It's quickly discovered that the tattoos are new, and that at least one refers ( Read more... )

the show cuts to Weller being introduced in an operation where women (at least 2, maybe more) are abused and kept chained in a house

That was so unnecessary! The first part of the pilot was not my thing, but the show will be more like the second part (at least I hope so), with Jaimie Alexander being a badass, so I think I'll enjoy it.

There were SO MANY operations they could have had him on, and they had to go with that? I mean, I think it's possible that they wanted to make sure we connected the opening scene with trauma and violation, not fanservice (and the nudity was pretty non-sexualized) but it wasn't needed

Jamie is why I looked into it too, for the most part. I tend to check out all the fall pilots & drop accordingly. (Excepting most of the comedies. I like British comedies, but not much of the american kind)

at least let her choose what to be called.
YES.

The first scene was a bit rough, the second one: good lord.

I have'nt touched POI since they did that one thing in season three
The thing was bad, but it allowed another show to have an awesome someone (and for the most part, the POI writing is solid). So I forgave, especially since I'm really enjoying the other thing.

I was planning to go back to POI after a while, then I read an interview by one of the creators where he pretty much said they didn't need Carter anymore because they had Shaw. And, uhm...I don't dislike her, but I've never been a big fan of Amy Acker, and loving her seems to contribute a lot to most of my friends' enthusiasm for the show. I think tumblr fandom hasn't really helped me much, either.

"And also realizing that Mandarin and Cantonese aren't the same language."

yup... I am reliably told (by someone whose first language is Mandarin) that to a Mandarin speaker, Cantonese sounds all wrong - the vocabulary is different, and the accent is strange. The way he described it to me, I'd guess that, if Mandarin was compared to modern English, Cantonese would be at least as different as Middle English and maybe as different as Dutch.
