No; Bruce is exposed to radiation, and the weapon that Not!Widow and Dr. Faustus used is a classic weapon that Captain America faces. io9 did an article about all the references in the show and covered this. Unfortunately, I have lost the link, but it's pretty recent.
I really hope Thompson is not the romantic endgame for this show. I got the feeling early on that maybe Sousa was, but given what has happened over the last few episodes, I'm doubting it now.
I started to get suspicious in the episode where he asks why she keeps coming back to a job that doesn't appreciate her, and haven't stopped sideeyeing since.
On the plus side of a very short run of episodes: highly unlikely we'll have to deal with any living romantic interests this season. I don't think (fingers crossed) that they're going to shoehorn in some Carter/Thompson stuff in the last 45 minutes.
I hope they go with a canon love interest for Peggy, if that's something they delve into in a theoretical season two.
And ppl have already answered your question about the Hulk, so...
The 'gas' wasn't anything to do with the Hulk, and I'm putting down money that this is actually a nod (If they don't outright call it), the Madbomb from some 70s issues of Cap, and it made a return a number of years ago.
