anime is giving me a horrendous cognitive dissonance whiplash, because it's like 50% adorable ot3 flashbacks and 50% BETRAYAL AND GORE, and i'm like, anime, get a grip. but i think i like it, and i really appreciate that hak was understanding and respectful about yona's reaction to trauma, and didn't try to shame or harry her. and the scene with leeches was very well done.

I think the cognitive whiplash is a bit worse in the anime because we ALSO have the flashforwards.

And very much agreed about Hak's coping/caretaking skills, and he largely maintains this throughout what I've read. (I say largely because there are a few moments where it seems to hit him that the main reason he squashed his own feelings for Yona is somewhat gone now and he starts showing a bit of aggression, but then he gets over it.)

I very ,very much hope that there's a scene of adult!Hak flopping in the snow, and getting properly attacked by snowballs again.
