I wrote a Marnie Madden fic for The Hour (I hate my title, but thanks to feedback from betas, I think I managed to fix most of the problems I was having with it. *nods* I try not to be spoiled when watching things, so I didn't read any of the criticism until yesterday evening. (Not what you linked specifically, but other things that said a lot of that.) It's not a subject I'm qualified to speak on, but it explains some things niggling at the back of my head about it that I couldn't put my finger on. I hadn't seen the bit about Mehta saying it had nothing to do with colonialism though, because, well, how can it not (it's even brought up within the film itself, so obviously it can't be meant to be viewed without assuming colonialism affects the world within the film)?
