How is Call the Midwife? It's something my mom keeps telling me to check out, but I haven't heard any other opinions on it overall.

I like it a lot. It's mostly about the relationships between the girls and the nuns and life in the east end in the 50s, but there's also some fairly graphic depiction and description of medical practices at the times. Vanessa Redgrave also quotes from the memoir it's based on every episode as narrator, which I think adds a lot to it.
