Continuum 1.5-1.7: This show is really kind of not good at all, but whatever, I love it despite it's tendenc to be kinda of faily at anything but women with agency shooting things.
I was very pleasantly surprised by Political Animals. I had no interest in it and wasn't going to watch, but then last night it came on after...something (Common Law, maybe), so I just left it on, and I ended up really liking it. I even called my mpm tonight and told her she should watch, because I think she'll enjoy it, too.
I was only really planning to watch after I'd seen what other people had to say about it (likely when it was over) because of Weaver, Gugino and Hinds (I didn't really have much faith in AU-Hillary Clinton being...respectful? and feared rage) but then I saw a clip of the "never call a bitch a bitch." scene and was sold.
The Hollow Crown actually sounds really interesting (I've had a ridiculous historical crush on Henry V since sixth grade). Where is it available to watch?
According to an interview I read with the writers, Jai is 100% gone for reals. I wasn't believing it either. Tthough, at the same time, when dead character's returning becomes the expectation rather than a surprise, it looses the dramatic tension a bit. ;)
Between his treatment in s2 and the fact that the actor was supposedly promised a larger plotline this season, this actually drops my opinion of the creators (who I understand were joking about the death on twitter, thought I haven't seen the tweets.0
Covert Affairs - My personal opinion is that Sendhil can now pinpoint a shit gig about to go off the rails, given his Heroes* alumni status. Given how unprofessional the writers have been on Twitter (hastily deleted joking about Jai's demise, no 'good luck for the future' type of send-off, not even a stilted one), I assume there's bad blood of some sort, but I don't know anything past "I'm happy to move on to other things". Given the weird trajectory of S2, it wouldn't surprise me if Sendhil'd lobbied to be released, given that his Heroes contract at the time fucked over some other opportunities he had. Nothing worse than to be yet again stuck in a contract for an for-whatever-reason underused character
( ... )
I get a similar feeling to it that I got about the death at the end of White Collar's first season: they killed the character off because they didn't care about them but in a way they can make it a fakeout if there's enough outcry. (Except both are USA shows, where the fandoms mostly just care about the white dudes, even in the more female centric shows: i.e.: poke around for Political Affairs without knowing much about it and you'd think it was all about Sebastian Stan.)
I get a "Godfather" feel from Hinds, too. Though I kind of think he's just having fun playing a philandering "good old boy" since it's so different from most of his roles?
