Snow is the version of "Snow White" for the "Once Upon A Time" line of YA fairy tale adaptations. (Though not all the tales adapted are typically considered fairy tales.) It's probably the best of the ones I've read so far.

Yeah, mothers/stepmothers get a bad rap in literature in general, let alone fairytales. I wasn't really keen on this until you mentioned the father being portrayed as a bad parent, because that's interesting to me! (I was just thinking of OUAT, how the woodcutter in the fairytale abandoned his kids over and over, basically hoping they'd die, and then the show makes him a great father who was fighting to get them back after Regina separated them. *eyeroll* Ofc, in the fairytale- according to wikipedia- the kids find their way back to him and live happily ever after, no hard feelings about him LEAVING THEM TO DIE or anything ( ... )

I've heard of Cinder and am interested in it, but haven't heard much feedback yet.

Once in general is rather frustrating when it comes to parents.
