While I've only had a very slight interest in new-to-me-TV recently (I think about 2/3-3/4 of my viewing the last month-and-a-half has been rewatching movies and BBC & ITV miniseries in my DVD collection) I apparently watched over 20 movies this month. Here are some of the ones I remember better:

The Advocate: This movie was so weird! Netflix ( Read more... )

movie: hairspray, movie: robin hood, movie: the englishman who went up a hill, movie: the advocate, bollywood: raavan, movie: mistress od spices, movie: angelique

I suggest you watch Raavanan which is the Tamil version, it is somewhat different in that the actor - Vikram - who played the cop Dev in the film now plays Beera and that subtly changes the dynamics. It's really interesting, actually.

I never liked Mistress of Spices the book but enjoyed the film simply because Ash looked GOR-GEOUS in it. But the source material itself wasn't enough to make a good movie out of imho.

I liked Aishwarya's look in both these movies a lot more than I have in other movies. (I've liked her in everything I've seen her in, but I dislike how they do her makeup a lot of the time.)

I've heard Raavanan is better, but haven't found it yet. (Also, I suspect my comments make it sound like I liked Raavan less than I did, as it's the kind of thing that makes the critical part of my brain be the most dominant.)

I suspect Angelique was based on the books, which I reallly ought to read someday, just because they seem to be considered classics of their time and type.

It is, yes. I read that before Harry Potter, the Angelique movies were the longest movie series based on a literary saga.
