I really wish there were more Moribito books here. I enjoyed the first two. But it seeems like Ono is done writing Twelve Kingdoms, and that's sad as well.

I'd be happy if we even at least got US releases of all the books in both series that were written...

Definitely. I had to find someone's online translation of The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak, and now the ones that were available here seem to be going out of print. I'm glad I got them when I did.

I know! Once Upon A Time was the show I expected to be my fvorite and I basically checked out Revenge because I was told it was Count of Monte Cristo, set in modern times and with a female lead, and it is my favorite and Once, while I like it a lot, is...not quite the show I was hoping for from the first few episodes.

I dislike Revenge because Amanda is a sociopath. I just can't root for one, no matter how he or she was created (fwiw, I hate the Count in the CoMC novel, as well). And clearly the show intends us to enjoy seeing her take people down, and I can't.

Dantes and his adaptations in pretty much all versions that I've seen work for me, but CoMC is very much the exception for me when it comes to sociopathic protagonists.

See, I hear people saying bad stuff about Emanda, and I'm like--well, an unimaginable wrong was done to her, and she feels she has to be unimaginably cold to get even. And yet, I admit her current friendliness with Nolan, the one she's honest with, and her telling-the-truth scene with Amily, amazing. I beam all over my face at them.

Summary: definitely my show of the year, hiatus, noooooooooooo....

See, I get not wanting to watch/not liking it because of that. But not if you keep watching after the first episode. I mean, they were pretty up front about it-it's not like TVD being critical of Damon for the first half dozen episodes and then going "but he's funny and has angst! Who cares how he treats women?" What she was like and the narrative's approach to her (And, IMO, unlike most shows, it actually gets MORE critical of her actions as they go along. Like, what she did with Nolan was horrible and wrong and crossed new lines-and the show treated it just like that.) was obvious from the start.

She's developing feeeeeeeelings. Icky distracting feeeeeeeeeelings. Also, I think the fact that she gave Emanda 2.0 her mother's name is very indicative of her real feelings for Emanda 2.0, despite her claims, because her mother seems to be the only thing of "hers" that she sees as untarnished and innocent.

Er, well, I am a fan of TVD and Damon, not that I think its or his treatment of the ladies = unproblematic, so I will leave that alone!

But I agree that Revenge does seem to have a very good bead on and direction for Emanda, and makes me feel I do too. And I'd like to know more about her mother.

I miss liking TVD, but I was talking about the narrative's change in approach to Damon as opposed to the character himself.

Revenge: SO GOOD.

though I think I'm one ep behind? I just saw the ep SPOILER FOLLOWS
>where they got engaged.

Catch up on in Nikita! The most recent eps have been above the show's even usual level of awesome.

And er, you have plenty of time to catch up on Covert Affairs since it won't be returning till next summer.

Did Pan Am get cancelled? If not I may pick it up.

Watch this week's ep! Uhm...do you need it? I know a few people had trouble.

I'm behind on things because I've been less in the mood for new-to-me canons and trying to limit what new stuff I want to watch that I'll want to cap for iconning, as opposed to not wanting to see things.

I think Pan Am is unconfirmed re: cancelation. If it is cancelled, i'll let you know if it leaves things hanging, or if it wraps up plots I think you'll be interested in.
