So, Jab We Met would almost be the perfect Bollywood movie if it weren't for the musical numbers being rather dull.  Actually, they felt more like typical Hollywood narrative montages than the usual Bollywood expressionism/surrealism/magical realism?   the weird offhand rape joke.  Which was more "WTF?" than offensive in context, but why must the ( Read more... )

I am now wondering which sort of American slang I would translate Geet's way of talking into...

Unfortunately, this isn't literature and probably no one would care enough to fix this error.

I think I enjoyed this way more this second time around because I admit that the first time, I watched a lot of it fearing that she would be punished for being so awesomely carefree and learn an important lesson.

Also, I love that while her choice to run away does turn out to be a bad one, the movie NEVER mentions this? So not only does she not get punished, the movie doesn't see her as having done anything wrong.

Sigh, I just want to draw hearts all over this movie. And over Geet. And even the guy, which is very rare for me. <3

I actually found the songs themselves bland. I mean, not bad, but they weren't really engrossing and seemed to just be filling in background noise for the montages at times.

What's Kaminey? (Besides another Bollywood movie, obviously.)

I think they spoke Punjabi at points, so it's an entirely different language from Hindi, not just a slang difference.. Unless you mean something else?

JWM is such a glorious film, yes. I feel like re-watching it right now. :D

And second above Kaminey rec. It's a really, really good film where Shahid plays twins.

I was mostly thinking about the beginning, on the train and when they're trying to catch it.
