This episode just...my first thought was to just write FAIL in giant letters 'cause I feel like that sums things up nicely. But you're right in that I liked seeing Jules PWN Damon once again and I enjoyed some of the Rose/Elena & Caroline/Tyler scenes.
Leave it to TVD to make Rose's death ALL ABOUT DAMON. And that whole dream sequence was just squicky.
Caroline/Tyler is my OTP of this show - Damon (although I find his character incredibly entertaining) is evil and Stephan is boring (to me) , so I am not terribly excited about the main trio.Caroline/Tyler OTOH are both interesting and have that "doomed forbidden OTP" thing going o: I am sure there will be angst, but they will be together.
Even aside from the masses of misogyny in Damon's character and the narrative's approach to his character, I find Damon to be tediously boring. At best, he's the extreme version of the worst traits of the "vampire badboy" type. I am fond of Stefan but don't find him terribly interesting on his own, but do in the context of his relationships with other characters.
I'm not sure I trust the writers with Caroline/Tyler, but am hopeful.
Loving Tyler/Caroline, loved platonic Rose/Elena. Hell, I kind of liked Rose/Damon, as much as I can like anyone with Damon at the moment, which isn't a lot but it was better than Damon/Elena. I mean, I liked them before this episode that was all about Damon's pain when it should have been about Rose.
Not that I'm excusing the ridiculous amount of overwrought man pain, but I think her dream was about Damon and not Trevor because Damon was actually controlling her dream, like Katherine has done to Stefan a couple times. Trying to give her peace before the end, etc. Damon didn't know Trevor so he couldn't really stick him in her dream I don't know that that makes it any better, but I don't think we were supposed to, like, read Damon as the love of her life that she just had to spend one more day with or anything like that.
Oh, is that what was going on with the dream? I was all "prettty Rose in pretty dress with pretty long hair in a pretty mea-WHY ARE YOU THERE GO AWAY DAMON YOU ARE RUINING THE SCENERY!"
I havent seen the ep yet but reading this it sounds like it panned out exactly as I expected to. oh show you are so predictable now. whatevs I'm in it for tyler/caroline, stefan/elena and whatever brief glimpses left of katherine we have.
2. I...shouldn't, but I kind of love Jules? Partly just because she's hates Damon, but she's just so...shameless, and all "why must I be surrounded by idiots?" I feel she and Katherine should team up. I WOULD WATCH THIS.
They would be all plotty and Jules would be all "I can go mess with Damon now?" and Katherine would be all "No no, wait. It's more fun when he thinks he's being smart and comes to you, and then you can rub his face in it." and Jules would be all "Ooooo...good point!" and then Katherine would suggest retail therapy while they waited.
