This is the fourth Twelve Kingdoms novel to be translated into English, and the last one that was adapted into the anime. This is also the longest novel so far, following three initially independent plotlines that eventually coincide. In the central plotline, Yoko, the new king of Kei (all rulers are kings, and their spouses queens, regardless of ( Read more... )

Yes! I think that the series is actually doing fairly well? I'll be so sad if they quit publishing them now that all the ones that were in the anime are out. I want new-to-me story material!

I love Twelve Kingdoms and this is also my favorite arc of the story. One of these days I will have to read the books (although I am most interested in the stories that did not get animated).

12K is my second favorite anime. 9Princess Tutu is my favorite.) I'm most interested in the stories that weren't animated, too, but these books are probably my licensing holy grail.

My second favourite is Saiunkoku Monogatari, but 12K is one of my third favourite animes ^^.

Oh its definitely some sort of miracle that TP is making a readable translation and still releasing the novels. They are pretty popular from what I hear, so that must help.

Now if only they'd be so considerate with say the Scrapped Princess or Full Metal Panic novels I'd be ecstatic...::grumble grumble grumble:: Not to mention the Kingdom Hearts ones...

I'd settle for the Kino no Tabi novels.

I suspect we’ll never get a truly good, well edited translation, but it’s probably little short of a miracle that we get the books at all.

I totally agree. I'm just grateful we got them so far, and hoping the other two books will also be released, even though they didn't show up in the anime.
I think it was another two books before she stopped writing in that universe, wasn't it.....?
