Things I have learned from recent teenybopper movies.

Specifically, Another Cinderella Story, Camp Rock, and Princess Protection Program.  (AKA, vehicles for Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.)

1.  Everything is a Cinderella story.
2.  Demi Lovato is so wholesome that not only do cavities flee in terror at her coming, but her very presence turns losers into wholesome young lads seeking a nice, wholesome girl ( Read more... )

movie: another cinderella story, my shame, movie: princess protection program, movie: camp rock

I'm impressed, or maybe horrified, that you made it through all three! But then I'm over the whole Cinderella thing, cause usually the cute guys are jerks

Update: Except after finding out Jane Lynch is in Another CInderella Story I had to add it to my queue :(

Jane Lynch does a fabulous job with a character whose writing makes me groan.

And Cinderella stories would be much better if they weren't so often about how a girl should put up with a guy's jerkishness and angst wallowing because he's angsty and will save her from the horror of being single.

Oh that is for sure. Plus I get sick of the ugly girl wins the heart of the jerk popular guy after a make-over proving that only pretty girls get the guy in the end and looks are all that matters.

Hee!!! I thought I was the only inappropriately-aged person to have watched Another Cinderella Story!!

You know what grossed me out the most, though? Drew Seeley is 28. Selena Gomez is 17. At the time they were filming this, it must have been 26/16, which is disgusting.

Also, Jane Lynch was surprisingly funny.

Definitely not a bad film.

I...I did not realize he was that old. It makes me glad that anything beyond hugging and holding hands must be saved for the marriage bed!

I didn't mind too much since I strongly suspect that Drew Seeley is gay, which should have made Selena Gomez more comfortable acting "romantic" opposite him. :)

It makes me think of Trick where you can see Abe Hiroshi (who was mid-30s in the first series) being uncomfortable in the "totally going to hook up later" scenes with Nakama Yukie, who was 20 at the time. (You can see him being much more at ease as the series progresses and she gets older, and they get more used to working together.)

Come to think of it, I can think of times when actors have commented on starring romantically with actresses much younger than them, but not the reverse. Then again, I suspect the difficult/uncertain part is over for her once they're working together, whereas he has the pressure to behave and prove to people he isn't perving on a pretty kid.

I hated the Cinderella movie - the dancing in Camp Rock was better & I hated the "stepmother" character. And the stepsisters.

PPP was...ok. I was expecting something better - although, I think it's an alternate ending where you see the two girls go on to become agents in the PPP agency - they should have kept that.

I liked Camp Rock ok. Certain actor's acting could stand to be spiced up but I enjoyed the music and the dancing. The ending was pretty good, too. (Don't accidently watch Jonas if you can help it. It is awful!! They deliberately hamm it up but it feels like a lame attempt to cover bad acting.)

Have you seen the wizards movie? I actually really enjoyed that one & it felt like it had a bit of a strong female impowerment message to it, too.

I haven't seen the WoWP movie, but I have seen and enjoyed some of the series. The stepmother and stepsisters (not to mention the Evil Ex) annoyed me, too.

The video...less fetishization, and she does'nt look 13, but still definitely too much.

I've watched all three of these and TBH I'm now finally over the disney fascination I used to have.
Demi Lovato is sweet but yes sickeningly so. Selena Gomez is beautiful it's not fair! I was awkward, terribly ugly and overweight at 14/15 lol I don't understand how she's so effortlessly gorgeous. If it wasn't for her baby face she could pass as a gorgeous 20 year old!

And the last 15 mins of Camp Rock was the only good part. Since Joe Jonas is a year old than me I'll say i think he's attractive but Nick...I just feel like a pedophile everytime i look at him o.0

Haha no.7 is soo true and soo high school musical!
