It sounds like I was lucky to have missed it. I had intended to watch it, but was unable to and it doesn't sound like I would have liked it.

You might like By The Sword Divided, which is a very historically accurate story of a family during the Civil War. It mostly centres around the second daughter, Lucinda, a very strong and independant young woman.
