Is "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers one of them? I've been thinking meganbmoore really needs to read that one. I remember reading it & thinking "that's a Christian novel!" O_O You can tell the author previously wrote mainstream romance novels.
I'm certain I've read this one, before I swore off Scottish-set romances for good. Faux-medieval language is unbearable - doubly so if it's faux-Scottish-medieval.
horribly stilted, faux-medieval language that often borders on the incomprehensible.estaraJuly 21 2009, 08:15:42 UTC
Have you read For My Lady's Heart by Laura Kinsale? This seems to be for many commenters on romance blgos the epitome of perfect medieval romance so I ordered a copy and I can't get past the middle English writing.
Is it worth it? If you haven't read it, would you like to, then I could send you my copy?

I think you probably would recall it more than vaguely, if you had ^^. I've got a few Kinsales myself, some of which I quite like, but I bounced hard off this one - mostly because of the language idea.
I tried to read that book, I dunno I like kinsale but I cant get why that book is the best of medieval romances, it was ok but not really good and I felt bored alot of the time. I think it doesnt help that Melanthe who's supposed to be really badass, spends the most of the book running away/hiding. :( It wasnt bad though but I may be one of the few people who liked shadowheart 123x more. I've recently looked into some of marsha canham's medieval romances and I found them way more appealing.
