Rectober 2015: Day 8 - Surprise Unpopular/Crack Pairings

This is a category I was so waiting for! It took a lot to nat make this post of about 50 recs for 20 different fandoms, believe me. It was difficult. But I have so many unpopular ships I could mention! I think majority of my ships is unpopular in general. In the end there are: 35 fanworks (29 fics, 6+ pieces of fanart) for 6 fandoms.

Why I loved it: I really like this one (and the fic and the ship). It's lovely how Cisco actualy appreciates Laurel and believes in her and her skills, and I like the "5 + 1" type of fic works here. Alos, Cisco yelling at Oliver is awesome.

Why I loved it: I love the conversations, the snark, and the potential this pairing has. Thanks to this fic I can't get the idea of Leonard/Hartley out of my head, really. And I love them both so it's fun to read more about their interactions. I wish more people were writing for this pairing.

Rating: General Audiences
Word Count: 278

Why I loved it: I found it only a few days ago, actually, but I really like the idea. It definitely made me think of Sara's and Kendra's interactions in legends of Tomorrow and how they would look, really. Because judging by the fic itself, I like this idea very much.

DRAGON AGE

1. Title: Friendly Fire

Summary: Dorian calls a ceasefire, and Blackwall learns that his feelings for the man are much more complicated than he realised.

Why I loved it: There isn't many fics for this pairing. And in this one there is tension, enemies (frenemies? antagonistic friends?) to lovers, lots of development as Blackwall learns more about Dorian, and I adore the friendship between Sera and Blackwall. It's absolutely brilliant. And Sigrun/Sera is wonderful as well - so, two great pairings in one fic!

4. Title: Since Ostagar
Author: Serindrana
Pairing(s) Carver Hawke/Ser Cauthrien
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Word Count: 4,226
Warnings: -
Summary: After the Deep Roads, Carver Hawke is stationed at Ansburg. In charge of his training is one Cauthrien, former knight of Ferelden and current representative of Weisshaupt. And everything about their relationship is a fucking mess - except for when it makes perfect sense.

Why I loved it: I have never considered this pairing before finding this fic, and while I still don't actively ship it, I like how it's written. Cauthrien is really great and so is Carver. I liked the relationship development and how and Carver and Cauthrien deal with everything. There is some angst.

Summary: In which Trevelyan is reckless, Sutherland has a crush, and Dorian is implausibly (but I hope amusingly) clueless.

Why I loved it: This fic took me by surprise and I did not expect to end up loving the possibility of this pairing when I saw it for the first time. And now I will always have a soft spot for Sutherland. I love the friendship between Cullen, Hawke and Dorian, Dorian's wit, Sutherlands attempts at courting and... pretty much everything else. I just love it.

Why I loved it: This is one of my favourite Barry/Roddy fics EVER. Roddy doesn't know what's happening, there is talking about music, and Barry is kind of lost and wants to find out more about Roddy and impress him with gifts. And Monroe, Nick and Frank are supportive. It's really, really wonderful. I love it.

Why I loved it: I like this OT3 a lot, but there's not many fics about them, so I decided to include it in this post. It's wonderful, sweet, and I like the relationship between Nick, Monroe and Rosalee was described. And the last scene of the fic is just so adorable!

Pairing(s) Darcy Lewis/Kate Bishop, Phil Coulson/Clint Barton
Rating: Explicit/NC-17
Word Count: 2,672
Warnings: -
Summary: It's Kate Bishop's first day in SHIELD. It's probably not the right day to wake up half-in-love with a stranger.

Why I loved it: It's a fic of the "we slept together the day before and today I find out you're my boss" variety. I love the friendship between Clint and Kate and between Phil and Darcy... and all the snark. So much snark. There are the "Hawkeye rules", and conversations about relationships... and I always like Darcy working with Phil. It was fun to read.

4. Title: If I Could Stay
Author: mammothluv
Pairing(s) Melinda May/Jemma Simmons
Rating: General Audiences

Oh, Lord. Have I said any of that out loud?” Jemma utters, a sense of dread ratcheting ever higher up her chest and into her throat.

Why I loved it: I'm still surprised that this pairing isn't more popular, but well. Here is one fic I especially like. I enjoy the slow, unsure atmosphere and the idea of the fic itself.

Phil Coulson might be dead, but Agent Jasper Sitwell is pretty sure something strange is going on. So he investigates, figures a few things out and saves the day.

Why I loved it: This one is awesome. It's a post-the Avengers fix-it, where Jasper is absolutely badass and he tries to find out what has happened. He and Melinda make an awesome team, I want to hug Clint a lot, and... it's one really great fic, really. I just couldn't not mention it.

6. Title: The Opposite of Trouble
Author: ifitwasribald
Pairing(s) Bruce Banner/James "Rhodey" Rhodes, Tony Stark/Pepper Potts
Rating: Explicit/NC-17
Word Count: 28,436
Warnings: -
Summary: Bruce has very good reasons to distrust the military, and Rhodey has very good reasons to distrust the Hulk, so neither of them is thrilled when circumstances throw them together. But it doesn't take long for their mutual suspicion to turn to mutual respect, and from there they begin to discover something together that neither of them has had in a very long time.

Why I loved it: At first I wasn't sure what to think of this pairing, but when I started reading I couldn't stop. The slow relationship development, the initial lack of trust on both sides, how Rhodey and Bruce learn more about each other, the misunderstandings, I like this fic a lot.

7. Title: Pancakes Are My Business
Author: emmi_hayes
Pairing(s) Jasper Sitwell/James "Bucky" Barnes, Phil Coulson/Clint Barton (mentioned), Natasha Romanov, Nick Fury

Jasper does have a pretty secret crush on the barista that works at the new café he’s focusing his blog on, however. The new focus is not because said barista is hot, no, it’s more to do with the scones, and the to-die-for coffee he’s never actually tried. Really.

Why I loved it: Coffee shop!AU. And a lovely one, at that. Bucky and Natasha work together and Jasper has a blog, and it's pretty much awesome. I love this fic to pieces, and the way Jasper's and Bucky's relationship is developed is sweet. And Natasha, Phil, Clint and Nick are awesome.

Antoine can’t help screwing up his face. “People say that to you?”
“The first one,” she shrugs. “The second one I’ve extrapolated.”

Why I loved it: This is one absolutely badass fic. I love the characterization and how badass Nick and Jasper are. This fic is a post-TWS fix-it that explains Jasper's situation and I absolutely love the way it was written and explained. It's wonderful and, as I said, Jasper is badass. Why I loved it: Just the pairing itself made me want to read the fic (Miles is awesome, Kate is awesome, and the idea is awesome), and the summary caught my attention, too. It's a nice fic.
