I feel rotten right now. I really wish I wasn't an England cricket supporter, but I am, and thus I have to get out of this black despair and wonder what we can do about having been thrashed by one of the great sides ( Read more... )

Actually, there was a report in one of the papers today which stated that Cricket Australia had campaigned to move the ICC Champions Trophy by two weeks so that England could have four four day matches in Australia and that England rejected the offer. If that turns out to be true, then I think I will shift from supporting England to merely following international cricket generally.

There are a lot of conflicting reports. I'm following the commentators on Test Match Special in saying the above. I find it equally possible, in the absence of more definitive proof, to believe that the Australians denied England more time, and that the English were stupid enough to refuse it ( ... )

It could be worse. You could be a rugby league supporter. We haven't won a series against the Aussies since 1970 ... and haven't won one at home since 1960!

It's pretty common, but also fairly unbiased; third-country umpires are now used in all international cricket. It can be a very difficult decision for an umpire to make; the sooner they rely on the third umpire watching the TV the better, IMHO.

yes, it's grim. parallels the fortunes of the rugby (union) team.
become a MUNSTER man. you'll never have to worry about cricket very much again and you can gouge your opponents. :D

As a Tranmere Rovers supporter I learnt many years ago not to get depressed by sports results ;)
