Bowg, bowg!

How would you verb the noise the brainbots make? The best my beta and I can come up with is 'bark,' but that's not really right, I don't think.

ETA: as in, 'The brainbot ____ed at him.'

That's more of an onomatepeia, though. Which, if there's one better than 'bark' that works in the past-tense, I can't think of it.

Usually it's just written as 'bowg' but listening to the movie again it's closer to 'brrrowg'. Kind of electronic barking, yeah.

I think the verb most used and accepted as "fanon" is "bowged". I've used that often in the past. However, since the brainbots share so many character traits with dogs, I can see how their vocalizations can also be referred to as a kind of staccato, electronic barking.

I just called 'em "zapping barks" in my fic, so obviously I like the dog comparison!

For quieter sounds, more electronic-sounding words like "chirped" might work, too. :)

Yeah, I've only seen the prequel, and I've no idea if they said anything in there. If they did, I can't recall it.
