Ollo everybody! I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately. I've been busy writing and revising the latest chapter of my fanfic, which is, like the other more recent ones, becoming massively long. I don't know if I'm becoming a better writer, or just getting more long-winded. LOL! Also, I think I may spend a large part of the summer trying

The sad thing is that El Dorado was intended to be a multi-movie franchise, but turned out to be one of the worst selling animated movies out there. It's Dreamworks' "worst" movie if you look at sales, which is quite sad because I honestly believe it's one of their greatest movies, and a lot of folks agree. Everyone I've shown it to couldn't get enough, and wished there was more. Same with Megamind.

All I can think of to say is you need to ask yourself does this much detail and/or this much dialogue further the story? Does it create a mood? Does it give us some much needed insight and context to sympathize with the characters and their situation, etc.
And adding to the discussion the animated movie: Sinbad has some parallels with Megamind.
-Bad guy turns over a new leaf and does the right thing.
-Like a lot of bad guys I think he has some sort of goatee, facial hair going on.
-Hmmm...can't think of anything else right now.

And maybe one more thing about El Dorado that parallels Megamind is the way the Megamind and Minion/Tulio and Miguel have a spat (both have a woman at its source) and eventually reconcile. I really loved El Dorado. It was my favorite of Dreamworks' films before Megamind came along.

That is an excellent comparison that I missed! They certainly do have a quarrel with a woman at the source. I hope DreamWorks keeps on putting out more films with these ne'er-do-well types. I think it makes for a more uplifting film.
