Here's a train of thought that wandered into my head last night as I was trying to get to sleep, and refuses to get out again.

Young!Megs was taken to shool school in a prison jumpsuit and manacles, which implies that The Powers That Be considered him to be a dangerous prisoner. But if he was considered that dangerous, why was he allowed to go ( Read more... )

Karen Beth Jones, you have just made my day by recommending my fic (and I'm home sick so I really appreciate the pick me up). I was just coming over to explain my head canon which is pretty much everything I wrote out in Fathers and Sons.

One of the biggest things in my mind is that I can't imagine the warden (or anyone at the prison) walking into a small private school and saying "Hey we have this really smart alien kid living at the prison can we send him here? He only blows stuff up sometimes!". They would have HAD to lie in some way to get the kid in there. There is more of this in the chapter of Fathers and Sons that will go up tonight or tomorrow.

And in my headcanon, little Megamind lives at the prison but he isn't treated like all the other prisoners because he frankly hasn't been convicted of a crime. They wouldn't need to search him because he's just the kid that lives there.

I think proofreading your story has pretty much guaranteed that your head canon is now my head canon. :)

Could be him being transported in shackles was mostly symbolic - as in "You go where we say you go, you're under our control". And perhaps they thought he might try to escape between the prison and the school.

I agree with Karen on all, and in my own fic I've put that he could bring his prototype of the De-gun into prison because he dismantled all the parts before the guards searched him.

Or he could easily have dehydrated everything and hid it in his lunch box.
