The whole last section: perfectly normal. That's exactly how most freshman feel throughout their first year in college. It might seem like now is the time to have a definite answer to fill the hole, but really all you can do right now is make friends, make contacts and explore new things to find out what you're really interested in. By doing that, next year you'll have a great idea of where you're going (not saying that everyone does, but I know you well enough to know that you'll be just fine). For example, I didn't do ANYTHING active freshman year except talk to people and make friends with those who are in my degree and the professors that head up my degree. As this semester comes to a close, I know where I'm headed: I'll be tutoring chemistry in three different locations, I may be teaching a lab or two come the fall, and I'll be working in come labs over the summer. Next year, who knows! Study abroad or out-of-state research are my two main options. So yea. You'll be good :)
