I speak with the background of having read the first two books and the weight on my psyche of seeing unceasing trailers for the movie.  This THING is SAD and rubs me utterly the wrong way.  I can barely begin to describe my visceral

I haven't read the books at all, but I've read two interviews with Stephanie Myers and the woman is just FULL of herself. >_< It's infuriating..."I was a good girl, all my friends were good girls and I only dated good boys so my heroine is a good girl too. But she's an 'everygirl', because every girl can relate to her."

I haven't heard good things about the series' portrayal of gender, either.

But, when I was watching a trailer for it, I totally thought it was sweet up until I saw the title.
